"Just prior to my retirement as a long-standing public school principal, the country was stunned by the tragedy at Columbine High School. It was a wake-up call to all who once thought schools and offices were safe havens from violence and acts of terrorism. Sadly this is no longer the case. Administrators and managers now have complex plans for “lock downs”, public access codes and other emergency security measures. I am convinced that every person in a leadership role in any organization, private or public, must become educated about the potential for violence in the workplace… and must also develop well articulated strategies for dealing with what was once thought to be unimaginable.
I attended one of Tom McCarthy’s workshops which dealt with this topic. His presentation was knowledge-filled, jolting and it especially dispelled everyone’s belief, “it could never happen here.” It was an excellent eye-opener for people who hold the responsibility to make the workspace a safe place. I highly recommend it."

"As an Assistant Vice President at State Street Bank in Boston, MA and manager of the Executive Protection Program for eight years I had the privilege of working with Thomas McCarthy. Tom was a consultant to corporate security for several years and utilized his training, experience and education to upgrade the entire global security operation.
Tom conducted security surveys and training seminars on behalf of several financial institutions that included specific security measures for residential protection, facilities management, domestic and international air travel, ground transportation and emergency evacuation procedures.
Tom is knowledgeable, with a professional demeanor and presence. His enthusiasm and authentic background has a profound influence on the men and women who are fortunate to attend his training programs."

"The seminar conducted by Thomas McCarthy gave the men and women of the Cumberland Police Department a historical perspective of how recent terrorism origination and how it affects our daily lives. Terrorism did not start as a result of the incident on 9-11. Terrorism was alive and deeply rooted in our society long before that incident. We need to be mindful of the fact that violence, in our everyday, is on the rise, especially violence in our schools. Mr. McCarthy’s background, being a retired U.S. Secret Service Agent, provided information to establish proactive investigative capabilities directed to identify and manage potential threats, to critical infrastructures, schools and how to protect ourselves and the citizens in which we serve. I would like to highly commend Mr. McCarthy on this training which has shown to be invaluable to my police department."
